Born and raised in Barcelona, Marina López is a Toronto-based bassist who was raised listening to all genres of music: from Tower of Power to Defunkt, Paquito D'Rivera, Jaco Pastorius, Ketama, and funky things alike. In 2013 she finished her Royal Conservatory of Music studies on Theory and Harmony with first class honours. That same year she studied ProTools and Jazz Bass with Berklee and upon graduating high school she went on to her Bachelor of Music at Humber College with a focus on electric bass.
Her goal is to become a funky, groovy, versatile bass player able to play with different people from all around the world!
She's been lucky enough to see concerts from legends like Chistian McBride, Wayne Shorter, Jeff Beck, Prince, Rush, Paco de Lucia and Carles Benavent to name a few.
